His academic background, which includes a BA from Wesleyan University and an MFA from the University of Iowa, further shaped his artistic prowess. As an art professor at Southern Connecticut State University from 1958 to 1994, Zawisa shared his passion for art with countless students. During his summers, he traveled extensively, creating art across North and Central America, Europe, and the Middle East.
