94 Points - Jeff Leve. Just In Clos L'eglise 2017 - Limited Release [dMiqQpxX] has gone from relative obscurity to being one of the most sought-after wines from the micro Bordeaux commune of Pomerol. Despite getting a 94-point score from Jeff Leve, it remains well-priced, though it seems unlikely that that will continue given the excellence of the wine and the minuscule production. Now entering its drinking window, you can look forward to the sort of decadent wine experience that no other region of Bordeaux is capable of delivering.

"Dark chocolate, plum and truffle notes are the first things you notice. Full bodied, lush, rich, ripe and fresh, the wine offers a lot of minerality, cocoa and ripe, juicy plums. The wine was made from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc."

About the Producer

Clos l’Eglise lies in the centre-east of Pomerol, next to Chateau Clinet. Its sloping vineyards are planted with 70% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and have an average age of around 35 years.  Since 1997 it has been owned by the Garcan-Cathiard family, who have transformed this eighteenth-century property so that it now ranks amongst Pomerol’s finest. The vineyard is treated organically, and intervention in the winery is kept to a minimum. The wines are aged for between 18 and 24 months in new oak barrels before release, an expensive treatment that adds even greater richness to this opulent wine.
