Huge Savings Domaine Decelle & Fils Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru 'les Crots' 2012 Apparel [mriQTRy5]
The vineyard of Nuits-Saint-Georges is recognised as an area producing some of the world’s greatest Pinot Noir wines, and the Premier Cru parcel of “Les Crots” is exposed at the top of the hillside, at an altitude of 275m on an escarpment which requires vine cultivation in terraces and handpicking. The unique features of this plot allows the vines to mature late and to produce grapes boasting exceptional concentration. This 2012 "Les Crots" is now reaching maturity, developing a complex bouquet of red and black fruits, leather, truffle, spicy notes and beautiful mellow tannins. A wonderful mature Pinot Noir from an excellent 1er Cru and vintage.
Taste
The wine is a deep dark red colour. Its nose, fairly discreet in its youth, initially expressed red and then black berry notes. Later on with age, it develops leather, truffle and spicy notes. Its tannic structure is firm to start with, however with time it becomes mellow and refined, all the while ensuring good ageing potential. This is a solid and full-bodied wine.
About the Producer
Domaine Decelle & Fils was started in 2008 when two distinguished winemakers from other regions of France decided to pool their talents and produce high quality Burgundy wines. Olivier Decelle is the vigneron behind Mas Amiel in Roussillon, and he also revived Château Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion. Pierre-Jean Villa was part of a boutique Rhône negociant, and he is also a Rhone Valley vigneron. Now they have purchased and restored an historic 19th century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges along with about 20 acres of vineyards in various Burgundy locations. They also source grapes from Gevrey-Chambertin to Chassagne-Montrachet for their Domaine Decelle-Villa venture. The domaine makes more than a dozen wines, from a Grand Cru and Premiers Crus to village and regional appellations.
