The factory transfer case skid plate, if it's even present, really doesn't do much to protect the transfer case. If you do even mild off-roading, you should seriously consider upgrading to Rusty's Transfer Case Skid Plate. We have different versions for the 231 and 242 transfer cases. This version is for those that have swapped in the NP231 transfer case. It offers slightly better ground clearance since it doesn't require the extra bend needed to clear the larger NP242 / 247 / 249 transfer cases.
