A nice RK Bolt bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips and built for #3 line. Serial #0802 which is inked on the shaft along with the rod specs and noted on the data sticker. The rod weighs 3.15 ounces on my scale (and listed at 3 1/8 on the rod and data sticker). The rod appears to be lawn cast only. Delicate medium action. The rod is nice and straight. Medium wheatstraw cane done in a two up node pattern construction. Excellent varnish. Wrapped in brown throughout with red and yellow tipping at the keeper and yellow only at the guides, ferrules, and tip tops. The ferrules have the characteristic Howells-style overwrap and have the makers stamp minutely stamped into the shoulder. The rod also comes with a ferrule plug. Carbide stripper with chrome guides and tip tops. 5 1/2" grip shaped to a western profile. The reel seat is an uplocking aluminum screwlock with a hidden pocket cap over what appears to be a varnished piece of Zebrawood. The screwlock has Bolt's maker stamp on it. The rod packs into a red cloth bag and an aluminum tube with the data sticker attached with gold anodized aluminum fittings ("RK Bolt Rod Co." is etched into the tube top).
