Hellebores are particularly valued by gardeners in USDA zones 4 to 8 for their frost resistance. Many hellebore species are robust evergreen plants. Helleborus will reliably flower yearly in the depths of winter or in early spring in the northern hemisphere with the sepals holding onto the plants sometimes for months.
