Uncommonly early 7-5/8 x 10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed in thick black wax pencil in the early 1960s. In good condition, with slight trimming to the left and right borders. Esteemed, if not impossible to work with director Otto Preminger-- dubbed Otto the Ogre-- was nominated for three Oscars, for Laura (1944), Anatomy of a Murder (1959) and The Cardinal (1963).  His impressive body of work also included The Moon Is Blue (1953), Carmen Jones (1954), The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), Saint Jones (1957), Porgy and Bess (1959), Exodus (1960), Bunny Lake Is Missing (1965), and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (1970). As an actor, he is probably best remembered for his portrayals of Oberst von Scherbach in Stalag 17 (1953) and Mr. Freeze on T.V.'s "Batman" (1966).
