She is writing to Mary Monroe, nee McLaughlin, in response to Mary's letter. [Mary is the North Carolina based sister to Archibald McLaughlin (the likely subject of the letter) whose personal correspondence we list separately.] Bettie writes about the recent death of an unnamed schoolteacher, probably Archie, the state of the widow referred to as Mrs. McL. and children and of the school which is of family interest as Archibald was a teacher and ran the school and also some news of the Church which he was involved in plus more local Lower Peachtree news related to Mary's family.
