With the very dark jasper within this one, the camera was not taking accurate photos of the orbicular area.  While these areas are naturally very dark, I struggled for them not to come out like a night scene, which is what my camera seemed to think they were.  It has stunning dark smoky orbicular structures.  It also has some very stunning brecciated jasper as well.  Indoors, the orbicular area is dark enough you cannot fully make out the structure.  This is a really neat one, I never knew I liked dark jasper this much.

Orbicular Whisky Creek Jasper is a world famous jasper mined by esteemed lapidarist Philip Stephenson. It is a very gorgeous orbicular jasper from the Owyhee Mountains in Idaho. Whisky Creek Jasper is well known for both the brecciated type and the orbicular type, and this one shows a prime example of the gorgeous orbicular pattern! 

Whisky Creek Jasper can be sensitive to the direction you cut it, producing different type of orb like pattern depending on the direction. It tends to be pretty solid, and takes a fantastic mirror polish. It is loads of fun to work with, and being a tough one to mine, it is incredibly hard to aquire! We personally love rustic smoky scenes that Whisky Creek Jasper can produce. It is such a unique and gorgeous stone!
