I have one of these that I wear frequently and get lots of compliments on, this one is in especially nice condition with a sturdier weight in 18k solid gold. Awesome French antique Victorian figural necklace with an ornate cuffed fist holding the dog clip which has a circular screw bolt to secure it closed. Makes an excellent pendant or locket holder for your neckmess or neckstack as the dog clip swivels freely. It also has an ornate slide as an additional decorative element. The chain is a box chain that has liquid snake movement and a wonderful shimmer, shine and buttery patina that just glows.

This was originally a watch / guard chain and was likely worn with the chain tucked into a woman's belt, and the watch dangled from the clip. But it makes a great extra long necklace or bracelet if you wrap it over itself or hook it to itself (double check the length). Note that it does not have a clasp anywhere along the chain to open it, it is the type you would slip over the head. I frequently wore it doubled with the fist hanging down and holding another pendant, or with the clip hooked to the chain and the fist hanging to the side, layered with shorter pieces. MEASUREMENTS:
It weighs 27.5 grams. Stretched end to end doubled its 25.5 inches. The chain portion is 25.5 inches when you lay it out and measure it end to end doubled. So it is 51 inches linear of 18k snake chain - so over 4 feet of linear length. The fist is 16mm and the slide measures 20mm.

IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:

Nothing really to report. If anything a few small ripples but no damage or welds or punctures as holes as we often see on pieces of this age. The slide doesn't stick to the chain, it slides freely up and down so it typically rests down against the top of the fist. This was just how it was made.
