This vintage Oushak, woven in Turkey, is a velvety, heavy duty wool rug weighing in at around 80 pounds, a true heavyweight. It has scattered wear throughout, soft wool with natural sheen from the sheep’s natural lanolin oils, and tremendous age-earned character. 

Depending on how you orient it, the rug shifts in tone. Looking at it against the wool nap gives you a richer, darker feel. If you’re looking at the rug with the nap “sleeping,” it presents a much cooler, more subdued tone. Check the photos styled indoors and out, both orientations show off its personality. You can style it as you wish. 

This piece has strong decorative appeal and is easy to style. The field features classic grand scale medallions and a sense of spaciousness in the design, a weaving tradition passed down through generations.
