Exclusive Victorian Snake Locket With Diamond Slash 30% Off The Price [TobwO7mP]
A stunning late Victorian snake locket with a diamond. This round locket features a beautifully articulated snake. The snake appears to come to the surface through two holes, and its head is adorned with an old mine cut diamond. A snake/serpent means love, eternity and wisdom in Victorian symbolism. The locket is 14k rosy yellow gold, and the back shows a finely done inscription; 'L.A. Lee. Am 40 ten Stiftungsfest. des Loreley MaennerChor 1891'. (please see the note at the bottom)
The diamond measures approximately 0.15ct, and is clear and bright. The locket has a photo compartment with a glass cover, and it opens and closes with a good snap sound. Overall it is in great condition.
Size: Approximately 24.5mm (0.96") diameter
N-S: 34mm (1.34") including the bale
*Note: The German inscription translates into 'On the 40th foundation festival of the Loreley men's choir 1891'. Stiftungsfest is a "Founder's Day" celebration held in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, on the last full weekend of August every year. The first Stiftungsfest was held in 1861. It is Minnesota's oldest celebration with the German heritage.
