This hand made sterling silver pendant is inspired by the culture of the Aztec people. It honors the medicine of the monkey, known to the Aztecs as Ozomatli, and is embedded with a blue agate stone.

In Aztec mythology, Ozomatli was considered the companion of spirit and servant of the god of music and dance. The monkey was associated with the arts, games, and fun. It is a divine creature and a source of wonder in this life. The monkey represents both the sacred and the underworld, and the man of an earlier creation. 

It was also a trickster and jokester - the monkey possessed the energy of the time before the light, of chaos and darkness before order was brought to the universe, so they know how to play the this energy of creation in a respectful way.
