OOAK mixed media doll, 13.4" tall
About the doll: For this show "Bird Stories" I imagined the characters of Alice in Wonderland revisited as birds. For the Red Queen I have decided for a raven skeleton, I thought it would be most appropriate. In this way the queen appears dangerous and mean while she holds in her hand a little creature that is a playing card with bird skeleton features.
The doll is in fact an anthropomorphic doll as she has hands and arms instead of wings. The rest is all bird, like her body shape and her legs. I made sure that every detail would reflect her skeleton nature, so you will find very detailed hand bones, vertebrae, feet and legs.
I have curated the costume in every detail, a rich and luxurious fabric for the skirt, velvet and golden embellishments for the corset. The corset has eyelets on its back.
As most of my dolls the Red Queen or Queen of Hearts is posable, hands can be posed as well as the head as she has a ball jointed neck. The arms can be moved at the shoulders and elbows. She can be more erect or slightly bending down, this will be up to the collector to decide how to pose her.
She is standing on a wooden base which I have painted in black with a golden design on it.
