Thanksgiving Deal Antique Primitive Large Size Plunger Type Butter Mold Beautiful Swimming Swan Design With Tracking [cxsAqw5B]

Description: A beautiful antique large size turned wood or wooden butter mold. This plunger type mold has an engraving of a swan on water with a plant behind it and showing water ripples below the bird. The print disk has a toothed border surrounding the design. The wooden case of the mold is plain and is inwards sloped while having a graduated rounded top. The plunger itself is rod-shaped with a small knob on top. The rod has thread at the bottom to screw into the disk with the design on it. The plunger rod protrudes from the top of the case. The entire piece is made of lathe-turned wood having a nice light coloring showing darker spots which are stains original to the wood. Date: Uncertain, but most likely late 1800's or early 1900's.

Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Size: The print itself measures ~3 5/8" in diameter, the mold measures ~4 1/2" in diameter at the bottom and is about 8 3/8" in height, when fully extended. The piece weighs about 11 ounces.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Very interesting and well made butter mold with a nice and very desirable design. A nice large butter mold, which would make a nice addition to your collection.

Condition: The piece is in very good original condition. It has a long and very obvious age crack to the case starting at the bottom edge and extending to the top of the casing, but has no losses, additional breaks, or repairs. It has general wear and soiling commensurate with its age and use. There is also a large stain on the exterior of the casing, which can be seen in the 6th photo.
