View of the Yumeiro Restaurant at Imado. Imado ariake takadono no kei. A striking night sky with a glow that must obscure a bright moon hangs above a busy restaurant. We see the silhouette of a dancer in one room, and customers and staff both upstairs and at the entrance. This work comes in many different color combinations; this one has an attractive blue night sky featuring dramatic bokashi and a green glow. As the Smithsonian website comments, “On a diagonal from foreground to distance, Kiyochika rendered reflected or cast light, interior lighting, and finally, his trademark: light as a tear in a cloudy sky.”
