The hive bodies are the boxes sandwiched in between the bottom board and the top cover of the hive. The Valley Hive sells medium and deep hives. Depending on the area and personal preference, there are a few different ways to configure the boxes. Some beekeepers use all medium boxes, some use all deep hive bodies, and some run a combination of both. 

The Valley Hive typically recommends using a deep hive body as the first level for housing the brood year-round. As the hive expands medium boxes can be added as needed.
