This is a nicely color toned and woven sakiori obi, which is a rustic, traditional kimono sash that is woven using shredded cloth as its weft material.
The cotton warp yarns on this obi are white and densely set: this aspect softens the overall color tone of the weave by created a kind of visual haze on the surface. The weft yarns--thin, shredded rags--are multicolored and their color saturation is suppressed by the white warp.
This hand woven sakiori obi is in very good condition--possibly unused, with no visible damage. It is a very handsome example of a traditional, sakiori weaving.
This is a beautifully colored, beautifully woven folk textile in very good condition.
