Fitting Instructions:

- Attach the cheek block (A) at a height corresponding to 75% (3/4) of the total mast height.
- Around the gooseneck high install the cleat (B) at a clear lateral area of the mast where the rope comes straight from the return block.
- The first eye strap (C) should be attached at least 2.5' away from the mast. Then divide the remaining space and install the rest proportionally. Eye straps can be attached with screws or rivets.
Tips for using Lazy Jacks:
Adjusting tension
At the dock, raise the mainsail and tighten the mainsheet to lower the boom. Tighten the jack line, leaving 2–3 inches of slack. This should ensure that the lazy jack doesn't interfere with the sail while sailing, but collects it when the halyard is released.
Avoiding snagging
To prevent the lazy jacks from snagging the spreader ends, you can use a shock cord. Attach a length of shock cord to each side of the sail, dead end it near the gooseneck, and run it to blocks suspended from wires.
Hoisting the mainsail
When hoisting the mainsail, make sure the boat is facing into the wind. Steer carefully and use the breeze to keep the sail in the pocket between the lazy jacks. If a batten gets snagged, stop hoisting and lower the sail.
Rope length
To calculate the required rope length, use the formula 2.75 x P x 2, where P is the distance from the gooseneck to the top of the mast.
