Aggrieved ALS from the Spanish tenor to an unidentified individual ("Illustre e caro M[aes]tro") at La Scala Opera House, likely the conductor Victor de Sabata, then principal conductor (1929-1953). Fagoaga writes to inquire why he has not heard from La Scala about the upcoming season, writing in part "Who would not think of me for the part of Siegmund in Die Walküre? And such a magnificent part as Grishka in The Invisible City, they would not entrust it to me? And for de Falla's Vida Breve?" Fagoaga made his debut at the Teatro Grande in Madrid as Samson in a 1920 production of Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila. His performance as Siegmund in Wagner's Die Walküre at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples is believed to have been his first professional performance in Italy. He soon became the leading Wagnerian tenor in the country. After the Second World War he emigrated again to Buenos Aires, where he wrote about music and worked as a correspondent for the Argentine newspaper La Prensa. (Forgotten Opera Singers)
