Bound volume of first and early editions of works for violin and piano from the collection of noted French violinist and violist Jean Bernis (1857 - 1889), including four inscribed to him by Saint-Saens, Colonne, Luigini and Lemoine and rare first editions of two of the greatest and most beloved virtuoso works in the violin repertoire, the Saint-Saëns "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso" and Wieniawski's "Polonaise Brillante." Bound together in contemporary cloth boards, spine stamped "Bernis" and with affixed leather plate ("Violon et Piano / Divers"). Binding stained and rather worn but solid and generally in fine condition within, with a few minor tears, occasional light spotting, many of the pieces bearing the pencil ownership signature of Bernis.
