[Bound with:] James II. A manuscript copy in English of the Charter of the Trinity House of Newcastle upon Tyne. [xxiv]pp., written on one side only, with some manuscript additions and corrections to the blank versos. Dated 26 July 1687.
Most likely a later handwritten copy, as Trinity House states that James II renewed their royal charter in 1685. The Trinity House is a maritime charity, “incorporated by Royal Charter in 1514 to regulate pilotage on the River Thames and provide for aged mariners” (from their website).
[Bound with:] James II. Manuscript copy in English of a document regulating elections for “the Mayor, Recorder, Aldermen, Sheriffe, Common Councill, and all and Singular other Officers, to Ministers Eligible of the same Town and County of Newcastle upon Tyne”, as some conflict regarding the procedure had arisen among the officials and inhabitants. First two pages loose. [xxix]pp., written on one side only, with some manuscript additions and corrections to the blank versos. Dated “the one and thirtieth Day of March in the year of our Reign of England, Scotland, France, and Ireland the Second, of Scotland the seven and thirtieth” (1687).
