Hard To Find Antique Glove Button Hook Sterling Silver Agate Adie Lovekin Accessory [SkW91rYO]

This is an agate and sterling silver antique glove button hook. It is hallmarked with the anchor, denoting the Birmingham assay office, the initials A & L.LD., which stand for Adie & Lovekin, the lion, denoting sterling quality silver and the date letter of “u”, which dates the piece to 1894.  The agate is in tones of brownish red and green and most likely of Scottish origin.  This antique glove button hook is part of the collection of button hooks that was amassed by a long time collector. It measures 2 5/8” in length - the sterling silver hook has a length of 1 1/2”.  It weighs 3.5 grams.  These smaller button hooks were used for gloves, dress buttons, sleeves or shirt collars and are generally called glove hooks.  It is in very good condition.
