This solid, late Victorian guard chain is made up of strong Sterling Silver links each baring a Lion hallmark for Sterling Silver. 

The chain is complete with a ring clasp at the end which may have been used to attach a pocket watch or a cylinder of fur known as a Muff to keep the wearers hands warm in winter. 

The chain is a good, heavy weight and long enough to be wrapped two to three times around the neck or it can be worn as one long chain if preferred.
