This Pakistan Bokhara rug is finely knotted in a traditional design using lovely, soft, silky wool. The Bokhara rugs are always made with a wool pile, but unfortunately, some people try to pass them off as silk. Handmade Bokhara rugs are incredibly good value.

The well-known Bokhara design originates from the city of Bokhara, where the nomadic Turkoman tribespeople first took their rugs to be sold. The repetitive octagonal motif or "gul" (Persian for rose) is a characteristic of Bokhara rugs, and today the Pakistani people weave this design in a wide range of colours and sizes.

Pakistan Bokhara rugs are hand-woven using soft wool, sometimes imported from New Zealand, on a white cotton warp and weft. This gives the carpet a property similar to silk in touch but with a much longer pile. These rugs offer great value for money as production is considered easier than other carpet manufacturing processes.

A carpet's final stage in Pakistan may involve initial tensioning and alignment problems, followed by surface clipping, herbal washing, and tumbling. This tedious task ensures that the rug or runner becomes a great success.
