This unique, striking rug has been hand-knotted in northwest Afghanistan. It is extremely finely woven using a wool pile knotted onto a cotton foundation. The design is certainly not traditional to Afghanistan but more like something you would find in Southeast Asia. The pink, blue, cream and brown colours work together. This beautiful rug will enhance any room in the house.

The Ikat dying technique originates from Southeast Asia and is mainly found in fabrics rather than rugs. It is created using a tie-dying method. This look has become more popular recently, offering a new dimension to modern interiors. Afghan weavers occasionally produce something "out of the box" and experiment with different designs and colour combinations. The rugs are still made the same way, using Afghan wool on a cotton foundation, but the finished rug gives an otherwise traditional piece a modern, contemporary look.
