Made of barro negro, a black clay from San Bartolo Coyotepec that is fired in an oxygen-free kiln to achieve its rich color and matte sheen without dyes or colorants. Every ridge and tiny suction cup is carved by hand, and you can see the hours it must have taken to get the shape just right.
