O pazzariello was a street artist, a very widespread and characteristic figure of Naples at the end of the eighteenth, nineteenth and first half of the twentieth century, a kind of street jester who attracted passers-by with his weird little shows.
He could usually be found on the streets, dressed in a very showy way, while he was holding wine or other products (usually bread and pasta) that were entrusted to him by a nearby cellar or shop to advertise himself. In fact, with dances, dances and rhymes, he used to announce the opening of new shops accompanied by a small orchestra
Moreover, it was not uncommon to find him at some village festival or festival where he tried to attract as many visitors as possible to auction off some items received from the organizers to increase the proceeds of the event.
