A show-stopping vintage large gold plated heart brooch set with facetted crystals in shades of  aquamarine, pink topaz, smoky topaz,

Signed YSL on reverse.

The brooch was designed by Robert Goossens, an exceptional French jeweller known as Monsieur Bijou; he created jewels for several Haute Couture houses including Balenciaga, Dior, Chanel, as well as Yves St Laurent.

Beautifully crafted and in very good vintage condition. 

Dates 1980s.

The heart has been the emblem of the House of St Laurent since the 1960s. Yves Saint Laurent is quoted as saying 'without an elegance of the heart, there is no elegance' and each season a heart was placed on his favourite model on the runway; thus the heart became a symbol of the house, seen across heritage and contemporary design.
