Morgana Burke is a painter and ceramist based in Cornwall. While she considers herself a painter primarily, Morgana has been experimenting more and more with using ceramics to provide a vessel for her beautiful artworks.

‘I’m primarily a painter, I’ve been working with ceramics on and off for a few years now. I use clay as medium to provide form and surface for my painting. I love the ‘aliveness’ of clay and the surprise that you get within the process of making ceramics.

I think everything around me is an influence, but mostly I’m into people, and faces. Since moving into a field a couple years ago I’ve started to paint horses, they surround me. I like to move quickly through different ideas, concepts and imagery.

I’ve spent most of My life bouncing between Cornwall and Italy, mainly Rome. I miss the grit and the glam of the city and its diversity, but ultimately I want to live in the fresh air… I love the feeling of freedom in Cornwall.

Since being pregnant and having my baby girl I’ve felt an immense creative energy, i’m working on some bigger paintings at the moment that are about people, social dynamics…and motherhood.’
