Why Use A Thermostat - Hydrostat?

To keep your pet happy and healthy it is important to make sure they have sufficient heat and humidity. However, in the wild the temperature would change across a 24 hour period, as would the amount of relative humidity. For example, during the day it may be hot and dry but at night the temperature drops as the humidity rises. Without this sort of natural difference in your vivarium your pet's health can suffer and they may fail to thrive.

Using a thermostat and hydrostat means you don't have to manually monitor the vivarium conditions. The unit does this for you. What's more, because this is a dimming thermostat it creates a more naturalistic temperature gradient without the dramatic swings from simple on/off units.

How Does It Work?

This clever bit of kit includes a remote sensor that monitors both temperature and humidity via a probe you can place in your vivarium. The unit then sits outside the enclosure so you can easily monitor and adjust it as required. The probe can be used in even high humidity set ups with up to 99% relative humidity, as well as high temperature desert set ups.  For best results, place the probe away from heat and humidity sources to ensure that a suitable gradient is achieved.

Plug your heat source and mister/fogger into the unit then connect that to a power source. Use the dials and buttons on the front of the unit to set the time zones and temperatures for your set up then let it all run, letting you enjoy your pet in the knowledge you have created that natural environment essential for optimal health.

What Can You Use With This Unit?

The Exo Terra thermostat-hydrostat is extremely flexible in the types of equipment it can work with.  It will operate with ceramic heat lamps, heat cables and heat mats up to 600w. For humidity you can connect it to a mister or fogger up to 100w.
