The original intent was so an US Airman who might have one hand or arm incapacitated from an egress injury, could still start a life saving fire with this device using only one hand. Still makes sense in any survival situation. We choose aerospace grade 5 titanium billet for the primary construction for a lifetime of corrosion proof performance.

Here's where we pushed the envelope of service life and functionality. Our design features an integrated storage cap to store additional "flints". The cap also acts as a driver to unscrew the spring retainer when replacing the flint. The additional functionality comes in the form of 2 neck down sections to wrap fishing line to nano cord, either of which have indispensable uses. Fine details such as the knurling for grip and an asymmetrical radiused wheel fork for an easy to index unidirectional rotation of the sparking wheel, round out this high level, expertly made, fire starting implement.
