For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1938 Sheaffer Oversized Balance Plunger Filler Fountain Pen in the Marine Green Striated Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition!

I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed and section. I have hand polished the gold-filled clip, cap banding, and 14K gold two-tone nib. I also cleaned, buffed, & polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with Gold Filled Clip that displays just a hint of wear on the edge of the flat ball. The cap banding is displaying brightly with no wear. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Patented in U.S.A. 1000". Collector Alert: The transparency of the barrel is Water Clear - one can easily see through the barrel and these are extremely hard to find in this condition. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Oversized Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

The plunger-fill system has been completely restored with the barrel holding an enormous amount of ink! Replaced the old packing unit with new, added a new plunger gasket, and new stainless plunger rod. I have tested the plunger filling mechanism with water and fills as it should.

This Sheaffer has the 2-Tone 14K NIB. The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .72mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a medium stroke/line measuring between .67mm to .73mm when measured with digital calipers. I have to point out this Sheaffer Nib writes very smoothly. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the image with Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This is a fantastic Oversize Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen in the Marine Green Striated Celluloid that I would grade in Excellent Condition. The barrel transparency is in such great condition and will be a prize for the new owner. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and this fine writing instrument is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
