For your consideration we are offering for sale this early 1920s Waterman 52 1/2V Black Chased Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with 18K Gold Filled Trim. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly size, #16 silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding and 18K Gold Filled Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Ideal New York 14K #2 NIB. The cap banding is hand chased with a decorative floral scene.

This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with chasing. The chasing on this pen's cap and barrel are crisp, won't find one better in my opinion. The coloring has an amazing beautiful deep black color. The barrel has very crisp imprints at the center and butt end of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG U.S. IDEAL GLOBE PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp 52 1/2V imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no monograms on the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman 52 1/2V measures 4 1/4" in length capped and 5 1/2" posted. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal New York NIB, it measured at .43mm with digital calipers.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever is crisp and clean; not brassing.

When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .52mm with very light pressure and flexes up to 2.15mm+ (see image) with normal pressure, I didn't want to overextend the NIB's capabilities. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman's 52 1/2V Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain in near mint to mint condition and certainly a collector grade writing instrument.
