A large growing Billbergia hybrid that was created here at Tropiflora by Ray Coleman. Having the parents (Billbergia eloiseae x Billbergia vittata ‘Domingos Martins’) crossed created this superb plant. A wide slightly flaring tube growing to 26 inches tall. The leaves are green, covered with white speckles and spots and the leaf edges heavily armed with pronounced black spines. With maturity the whole plant develops a rose colored veneer. The inflorescence is semi-pendant with a whitish scape, large and showy red bracts and blue flowers that have the characteristic curling, clock-spring petals of the helicoid parent eloiseae. A must have plant for the bromeliad collector!
