Stabilant 22 is an amorphous-semiconductive polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropyline block polymer with a molecular weight of about 2800. It transitions to a conductive state under the influence of an electrical field, without affecting signals at frequencies above five cycles per hour. This makes it an excellent choice for electromechanical contacts, providing a wide-bandpass connection reliability similar to a soldered joint without bonding the contacting surfaces together. At room temperature, it has the viscosity of medium-weight motor oil, which thins out with increasing temperature and decomposes into its constituent polymers at about 240° Celsius.
